Dopo l'incendio della città del 1834, in cui furono distrutti circa tre quarti della città, Reichenhall fu generosamente ricostruita. Nella seconda metà dell'800 venne istituito in città un centro termale, per il quale furono importantissime anche le sorgenti di acqua salata.
