    Sempre un bel posto dove riposarsi e indugiare. Ora c'è un tavolo con due banchieri sotto il vecchio portale. Il leone guarda ancora minacciosamente Gmunden e sorveglia il confine tra Ebensee e Gmunden. Quante storie ci sono su questo luogo con il suo monumento...?
    Nel 1963 il monumento fu vittima di un attentato dinamitardo e fu riaperto nel 1964.

    La tratta Traunkirchen - Ebensee è stata la parte più difficile del percorso Linz - Ischl, quindi è comprensibile che un piano per un "percorso artificiale" sia stato elaborato molto presto, ovvero nel 1835. Nel 1856 fu sfondata la roccia tra "Stein e Glanzenbichl" (pietra intermedia) Per la costruzione della strada rupestre furono impiegati operai delle province italiane della monarchia, come fu poi per la costruzione della ferrovia.
