    La stazione di Rodenkirchen fu aperta nel 1875 per la linea Hude-Brake-Nordenham. I piroscafi transatlantici partirono da Nordenham fino al 1897, garantendo il traffico passeggeri. Il porto generava un traffico merci costante.
