    La chiesa di Vierlingsbeek è di origine molto antica ed è la chiesa madre di Overloon, Holthees e Groeningen. Nel tardo Medioevo apparteneva al capitolo di San Giorgio nel castello di Grave. Il fatto che la chiesa sia dedicata ad uno dei martiri più importanti di Roma indica anche la grande antichità della parrocchia. San Willibrord dedicò il suo monastero a Echternacht, tra gli altri, a San Lorenzo. La prima chiesa di Vierlingsbeek era probabilmente fatta di legno, come al solito.
