    In origine i ministeriali di Riedheim erano i signori di Graisbach, che avevano la loro residenza nobiliare a Riedheim e da allora presero il nome da questo luogo. Bertoldo il Riedhaimer viene menzionato in un documento del 1312. Nel 1384 i fratelli Erhard e Winhard Riedhaimer von Riedheim si riunirono per amministrare insieme la loro eredità a Riedheim.

    Konrad von Rietheim viene menzionato nel 1347. La famiglia si stabilì inizialmente a Remshart (oggi frazione del comune di Rettenbach) vicino a Günzburg; la sede vicino a Holzheim fu venduta alla fine del XIV secolo alla famiglia Riederer von Paar.
