Please ensure your dog is kept on a leash, especially to protect local wildlife and for the comfort of other visitors. Remember to clean up after your pet to maintain the natural beauty of the area.

Can Die Sassenburg be visited during winter, and what should I expect?

While the intro suggests spring to autumn as the best time, Die Sassenburg can be visited in winter. However, be prepared for potentially muddy or icy conditions on the uneven ground. What you will 'see' are the preserved earthen wall remains of the former ring fortification, which give a sense of its scale. Guided tours during 'open excavation days' offer deeper insights into the archaeological findings.
