    Il parco di 1,5 ettari con passeggiata sulla Sprea prende il nome dall'imprenditore di lavanderia Albert Mentzel. Nacque il 14 aprile 1839 e morì a Berlino il 28 luglio 1922. Il parco apparteneva alla sua proprietà in Oberspreestraße e fu acquistato dalla città di Berlino nel 1925.
