    Il più famoso di tutti i monumenti di Glendalough è la Torre Rotonda che si erge a 33 metri dal suolo. Fu costruito quasi 1000 anni fa dai monaci del monastero di San Kevin. Il tetto conico dovette essere sostituito nel 1876 quando fu colpito da un fulmine. Le torri erano chiamate “Cloigtheach”, che significa campanile, suggerendo il loro uso principale. Le torri erano talvolta utilizzate come luogo di rifugio per i monaci quando il monastero era sotto attacco. Servivano anche come postazioni di vedetta e fari per i monaci e i pellegrini che si avvicinavano.
