North of Velká Deštná lies the side peak Malá Deštná (1,090 m), and between the two is the Jelení lázeň Nature Reserve, an 8.2-hectare area protecting a unique ridge bog.

Where can I find refreshments or accommodation near Velká Deštná?

What is the history of the observation tower on Velká Deštná?

The current 19-meter-high steel and wood observation tower, opened in 2019, is not the first on Velká Deštná. Various wooden towers existed on the summit over the years, often destroyed by storms and rebuilt. A notable wooden tower, named Štefanova vyhlídka, was built in 1992 and stood until 2010. The modern tower continues this tradition, offering panoramic views and becoming one of the most visited observation towers in the country.
