Le pale in abete Douglas misurano 32 braccia, circa 20 metri di lunghezza, e sono dotate di pale in legno. La calotta del mulino a vento è rivestita con lastre di zinco e presenta un piccolo mulino, un "telaio a ventaglio" che fa girare le pale nella direzione del vento. Anticamente, la calotta del mulino veniva girata manualmente verso il vento e le pale erano coperte con tela.
