    Nether Largie South fu probabilmente costruito più di 5.000 anni fa. La camera originaria al centro era divisa in quattro scomparti e probabilmente conteneva numerose sepolture, in linea con le pratiche neolitiche.

    Come per gli altri monumenti di Kilmartin Glen, il sito continuò ad essere utilizzato come luogo sacro. Ad un certo punto, circa 4.000 anni fa, il tumulo fu ampliato fino a diventare un tumulo rotondo largo 30 metri, per ospitare due ciste secondarie, o bare di pietra, senza dubbio per ospitare i resti dei capi.
