What geological features make the Cow and Calf Rocks unique?

The Cow and Calf Rocks are composed of millstone grit, a type of sandstone formed over 320 million years ago during the Carboniferous period. The distinctive 'Cow' (larger rock) and 'Calf' (smaller boulder) formations are believed to have separated due to glacial action during an ice age. The area also features ancient stone carvings, such as cup-and-rings, hinting at its prehistoric significance.

Visitor tips suggest that the Cow and Calf Rocks can get extremely busy, particularly on sunny days and during peak holiday seasons.
