    Alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale, a Rapenbrug e in tutta la regione, ci furono molti combattimenti da parte di Alleati e Tedeschi...quindi anche ad Adegem (Maldegem) un noto cimitero canadese

    Memoriale in onore della realizzazione ed eroica difesa di una testa di ponte il 21 e 22 ottobre 1918 da parte dei ciclisti dei carabinieri belgi detti "Diavoli Neri". Il Rapenbrug sul canale Schipdonk fu distrutto nel 1918. Una seconda distruzione seguì durante la seconda guerra mondiale. L'attuale ponte è un ponte levatoio in ferro, ricostruito nel 1947 insieme al Celiebrug di Adegem, situato più avanti.
