L'attuale castello era un tempo un castello con fossato, presumibilmente dotato di una torre angolare aggiuntiva e di una cinta muraria con ponte levatoio.
Il fossato è stato riempito e una torre angolare con cinta muraria è stata probabilmente demolita per migliorare l'ex cortile del castello, piuttosto buio, e per ampliare il castello trasformandolo in un palazzo.
