Nel XIII secolo, alla ricerca di un sito più favorevole, i Signori di Wiltz costruirono il nuovo castello su uno sperone roccioso più alto.
Sotto il regno del Conte Jan, la costruzione del castello rinascimentale, che si erge ancora oggi, iniziò nel 1631. Il nuovo edificio fu completato intorno al 1720.
