    Questa stazione fu utilizzata dal 1833 al 1848 per l'inoltro ottico dei dispacci statali come una delle 61 stazioni sulla connessione da Berlino a Coblenza. La trasmissione per la rotta da Berlino a Colonia è durata circa due ore. Di norma, venivano trasmessi due telegrammi al giorno. A nord-est di questa stazione era la successiva a Schlebusch, a sud-ovest seguiva la stazione sul Westwerk di St. Pantaleon a Colonia.

    Il telegrafo ottico sul tetto dell'edificio in Egonstraße fu originariamente eretto nel 1832 e rimase in uso fino al 1848. Nel 1973 è stato ricostruito nella sua forma attuale. A quel tempo, i dispacci statali potevano essere inviati da Coblenza a Berlino entro 2 ore. 61 stazioni sono state distribuite lungo il percorso di 550 km. La stazione di Flittard era la numero 50.
