The Bibisee is a popular groundwater lake nestled in Upper Bavaria, Germany, within the municipality of Königsdorf. Located at an elevation of 603 meters, this artificial lake, sometimes misspelled as pipisee or bibi see, was formed from a former gravel pit that filled with groundwater between 1969 and 1978. It offers scenic views of the Bavarian Prealps and is situated in the Wiesen district, directly adjacent to the B11 road, making it easily accessible from areas like 82538 Geretsried and the wider Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district.

Visitors consistently praise the Bibisee for its exceptionally clean and clear water, making it a favorite for swimming and relaxation. The lake's family-friendly atmosphere is a major draw, with amenities like a 50-meter waterslide, sand playgrounds, and a dedicated children's pool. Many appreciate the convenience of the on-site kiosk, which offers refreshments and facilities, enhancing the overall experience at this well-maintained destination.

Before visiting the Bibisee, it's important to note that it is privately owned and requires an entrance fee, typically around 3 euros. While the bathing water quality is consistently excellent, swimming is at one's own risk as there are no lifeguard services. The lake can get quite busy, especially during warm summer days, so arriving earlier in the day might offer a more tranquil experience. Parking is available, and its location between Geretsried and Königsdorf makes it a convenient day trip for many.

The best time to visit Bibisee lake for activities is during the warmer months, from late spring through early autumn, when its appeal as a swimming lake is at its peak. Beyond swimming, the freibad Bibisee offers sunbathing areas, a bowling green, and outdoor chess. There's also a designated nudist (FKK) section for those who prefer it, and a swimming island moored in the center of the lake adds to the fun. The presence of nearby camping facilities also makes it suitable for extended stays, offering a range of Bibisee lake activities.

One of the standout features of Bibisee is its unique origin as a groundwater lake with no natural inflow or outflow, a fact often highlighted by visitors. The consistent high quality of the bathing water, regularly checked since the 1980s, provides peace of mind for swimmers. The lively atmosphere, especially around the waterslide and sand digging area, creates memorable moments for families, while the kiosk ensures refreshments are always at hand.

Whether you're looking for a relaxing day by the water or an active family outing, the Bibisee offers a variety of experiences. You can explore the surrounding area on foot or by bike, discovering the natural beauty of Upper Bavaria.
