Is there an entrance fee to access Bibisee, and what does it include?

Yes, Bibisee is privately owned and requires an entrance fee for visitors. This fee, typically around 3 euros, grants you access to the lake's amenities, which include the beach area, a 50-meter waterslide, sand playgrounds, a children's pool, sunbathing lawns, a bowling green, and outdoor chess facilities. There is also a kiosk on-site for refreshments.

Are dogs allowed at Bibisee or on trails around the lake?

The primary bathing area of Bibisee, being a private facility with an entrance fee, generally does not permit dogs. For walks around the lake or in the surrounding natural areas, it's always best to keep dogs on a leash and be mindful of local regulations, especially concerning nature protection areas.

How can I reach Bibisee using public transport?

Bibisee is situated between Geretsried and Königsdorf. While its location adjacent to the B11 road makes it easily accessible by car, public transport options might require a combination of train and bus. It's advisable to check local bus schedules from nearby train stations in Geretsried or Königsdorf for the most direct route to the lake area.

Are there any accessible routes or facilities for wheelchair users at Bibisee?

The main facilities at Bibisee, including the kiosk and sunbathing areas, are generally flat and accessible. However, specific information regarding wheelchair-friendly access to the water's edge or dedicated accessible pathways around the entire lake is not readily available. Visitors with mobility concerns should contact the facility directly for detailed accessibility information.

What kind of hiking or cycling trails are available directly around Bibisee?

Bibisee itself is a bathing lake with a 1200-meter shoreline, primarily designed for swimming and relaxation. While there isn't a long, dedicated hiking trail directly encircling the lake, the surrounding area offers opportunities for pleasant walks and cycling routes through the Upper Bavarian landscape. These routes often connect to nearby villages and natural spots, providing scenic views of the Bavarian Prealps.

Is Bibisee suitable for winter activities like ice skating or winter hiking?

The intro highlights Bibisee's popularity during warmer months for swimming. While the lake may freeze over in very cold winters, it is not officially maintained or promoted for ice skating, and caution should always be exercised on natural ice. The surrounding paths could be suitable for winter hiking, but visitors should be prepared for potentially icy or snowy conditions and check local weather forecasts.

Are there any cafes or restaurants near Bibisee besides the on-site kiosk?

Bibisee has an on-site kiosk offering refreshments and snacks. For more substantial meals or a wider selection of cafes and restaurants, you would need to venture into the nearby municipalities of Königsdorf or Geretsried, which are just a short drive away.

What is the water quality like at Bibisee, and is it safe for swimming?

The bathing water quality at Bibisee is consistently excellent. Regular checks have been conducted since the 1980s, ensuring its high standard. While swimming is at one's own risk due to the absence of lifeguard services, the clear and clean groundwater makes it a very popular and safe choice for swimmers.

How deep is Bibisee, and are there shallow areas suitable for young children?

Bibisee has a maximum depth of 8.6 meters and an average depth of 6.0 meters. However, the lake is considered very family-friendly and includes a dedicated children's pool and sand digging areas, which are specifically designed for younger visitors to enjoy in shallower, safer environments.

What is the origin of Bibisee, and does it have any natural inflows or outflows?

Bibisee is an artificial lake with a unique origin. It was formed between 1969 and 1978 as a result of gravel mining, where the excavated pit filled with groundwater. It does not have any natural inflows or outflows, making it a groundwater lake.
