Il lago è di proprietà privata. Dalla metà degli anni '80 è stato affittato dalla città di Seelze per essere utilizzato come area ricreativa locale. L'acqua viene utilizzata oltre che come lago balneabile anche come acqua per le immersioni da parte di un club subacqueo.
