    Con l'Anno Mariano (1954: 3a parte dei "Messaggi di Maria") fu costruita una grotta di Lourdes.
    Il consiglio comunale ha dato il permesso di costruire la grotta sul terreno del presbiterio. Per la costruzione della grotta furono portati da Spontin a Impe 25.000 kg di roccia.
    Il 24 ottobre 1954 la grotta fu aperta da E.H. D'Hollander, decano di Wetteren, consacrato.
