    Il Bartelsluis fu costruito nel 1638 in connessione con la bonifica dell'Enge Wormer e collegava il Westerveer e l'Enge Wormerringsloot con lo Zaan. Inizialmente la serratura si chiamava Westersluis, non si sa quando o perché questo nome sia stato cambiato. La chiusa era particolarmente occupata nei primi anni, dai venditori ambulanti di fette biscottate che trasportavano la fette biscottate Wormer ad Amsterdam. Con la perdita della panetteria di fette biscottate Wormer, anche il significato del lucchetto è diminuito. Il Bartelsluis è stato riempito negli anni '60; il nome sopravvive nella frazione.
