    La chiesa è composta da un coro romanico della seconda metà del XIII secolo, una sacrestia, una torre e un braccio del coro (ora cappella mortuaria) risalenti al periodo compreso tra il 1480 e il 1520 circa, e da una navata basilicale leggermente più recente, risalente al 1524 circa.

    Come molte altre chiese costiere, la chiesa è dedicata al marinaio San Nicola.

    Inizialmente la chiesa aveva una navata centrale e un presbiterio. Alla torre fu aggiunta intorno al 1300, poco dopo (intorno al 1400) la cappella, poi le navate laterali, poi la volta, ed infine nel 1667 il vestibolo della chiesa.
