    La cittadina di Wustrow fu fondata come castello intorno al 1217 e a quel tempo serviva per garantire il traffico marittimo tra Salzwedel e l'Elba. Si trova nel sud del distretto di Lüchow-Dannenberg, conta circa 2900 abitanti ed è composto da dieci distretti/villaggi e dalla città stessa.

    Wustrow im Wendland è una piccola città, ma vale la pena dare un'occhiata. Oltre alla chiesa di San Lorenzo sul Jeetzel, nel nucleo ci sono ancora alcune bellissime case a graticcio. Ammira il Museo Wustrow e un'antica caserma dei pompieri del 1888 accanto a quella della chiesa.

    Nel 1691 un grande incendio distrusse l'intera città di Wustrow, compresa la chiesa, la canonica e i libri della chiesa in essa contenuti. Anche una vasta collezione della lingua wendish, poco usata, cadde vittima delle fiamme, creata e quasi completata a mano dall'allora pastore Christian Henning von Jessen.
