    Il castello di Maaltebrugge, situato nel Parco Maaltebrugge alla periferia di Gand, risale probabilmente al 1754 e fu chiamato Château Maaltebrugge all'inizio del XIX secolo. Era la casa di campagna della famiglia de Hemptinne nei mesi estivi. Il castello stesso è stato costruito in stile classicista, ma l'adiacente cappella del castello di Maaltebrugge è neogotica.

    Dopo che Charles de Hemptinne, l'ultimo proprietario, lasciò definitivamente il castello nel 1940, il castello e il parco adiacente furono acquistati dalla città di Gand nel 1955.
