    Le Scuderie Granducali furono costruite nelle immediate vicinanze del palazzo ducale e come prolungamento della strada cittadina Großer Moor, in una posizione fantastica su un promontorio nel lago di Schwerin. Sulla base delle scuderie già esistenti a Ludwigslust, l'architetto di corte Georg Adolph Demmler presentò progetti che furono realizzati dal 1838 al 1842 e crearono un insieme di ideale unità tra natura e rigore edilizio. Il Marstall acquisì la sua forma attuale tra il 1854 e il 1873 grazie ai lavori di ristrutturazione e ampliamento eseguiti dall'architetto di corte Hermann Willebrand.
