    la "Haus Spiess" costruita nel 1806, le caratteristiche tardo barocche e classicistiche dello "stile couven" erano tipiche dell'architetto di Aquisgrana da cui prese il nome questo stile architettonico.
    La casa prende il nome dal suo costruttore, Johann Joseph Spiess. Era un ex ufficiale delle guardie del corpo del re Luigi XVI di Francia e fu impiegato sotto Napoleone a Erkelenz come amministratore di dominio ed esattore delle tasse per i cantoni di Erkelenz e Odenkirchen nell'arrondissement di Krefeld.
