Il mulino è un cosiddetto mulino a palo cavo e veniva utilizzato come mulino da polder. Insieme al Rijswijkse Molen, bruciato nel 1907, vennero prosciugati anche i polder di Rijswijk e Uitwijk. In totale c'erano sette mulini insieme. Nel 1927 il mulino a vento fu spazzato via da una folata di vento, dopodiché fu restaurato

I mulini sono i cosiddetti "mulini altalenanti ad acqua". Questo è il più antico
noto tipo di mulino polder nei Paesi Bassi, ha avuto origine intorno
1400. La caratteristica principale è che l'intera camera alta
può essere ruotato attorno al tubo. Agitare quando soffia il vento
o 'rimbalzare' questi mulini, da cui il nome.
