È molto probabile che sia stata edificata nel IX secolo come dominio o chiesa di villa per le masserie circostanti. Testimonianze del vescovo di Cambrai del XII secolo confermano questa storia. La chiesa ha subito nel corso dei secoli diversi ampliamenti. La forma attuale fu creata nel XVII secolo per volere dei Norbertini dell'Abbazia di Grimbergen.
