The St. Laurentius Chapel and Local History Museum Dahlenburg is a significant historical site nestled in the charming town of Dahlenburg, within the Lüneburg district of Lower Saxony, Germany. Standing at an elevation of approximately 42 meters, this remarkable 13th-century Romanesque fieldstone chapel is considered the oldest building in Dahlenburg. It is prominently located on Marienauer Weg, along the former main road, Lüneburger Landstraße, offering a deep dive into the region's rich past within the scenic Lüneburg Heath.

Visitors are consistently drawn to the chapel's enduring medieval architecture, which has remarkably survived centuries of change, including the destruction of the associated Dahlen Castle and the turmoil of the Napoleonic Wars. What truly captivates many is its unique transformation from a place of worship to a vibrant local history museum. The museum's compelling focus on the Napoleonic Wars, particularly the Battle of Göhrde in 1813, brought to life by an impressive diorama featuring 1,500 tin figures, offers a fascinating and educational experience for all ages.
