Archaeological excavations have revealed the castle's rectangular plan, and you can see the perimeter walls exposed to about a meter in height. Traces of a defensive moat are also visible, offering a glimpse into its former grandeur and strategic importance. Fragments of Opus Spicatum can also be observed in some parts.

Are there specific viewpoints at Castell de Juià that offer the best panoramic views?

The castle was part of a crucial defensive network in the Gavarres foothills, belonging to the Bishopric of Girona, alongside other fortresses like Castell de Palagret and Barbavella. Its strategic location controlled the Ter valley, making it vital for regional defense. Although largely abandoned after 1479, its ruins offer a tangible link to Catalonia's medieval past.
