Bellissimo sentiero circolare, a volte molto ripido! Assicurati di iniziare il tour a sinistra.

Davvero una vista meravigliosa in cima alla croce. La salita vale davvero la pena. Se fai il giro nel modo in cui ho camminato, le salite non sono così male, ma ovviamente è estenuante scendere!

    Domande frequenti

What is the typical elevation gain for the hike to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

The Hoher Burgstall summit stands at 2,611 meters (8,566 ft). If starting from the Schlick 2000 mountain station at Kreuzjoch (2,136 m), the elevation gain to the summit is approximately 475 meters (1,558 ft). The overall gain can vary depending on your chosen starting point and route.

Are there any specific safety considerations for the terrain on the way to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

Yes, while considered accessible, the terrain can be varied. Sections can be quite steep, especially on the descent. The trail includes well-secured sections and a short, easy scramble to the summit plateau. Good hiking boots with ankle support and appropriate gear are essential. Some parts, like a rock gully, require careful footing.

What notable landmarks or natural features can be seen along the trail to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

Beyond the stunning 360-degree summit panorama, the trail itself offers beautiful sights. You'll pass the Sennjochhütte, a potential resting spot, and can enjoy views of the Stubaier Glacier and other high Alpine peaks like the Serles, Elfer, Habicht, Zuckerhütl, Wilder Freiger, and Rinnenspitze. Picturesque wooden houses and the scenic Schlicker See are also visible along the way.

Is Burgstall Gipfelkreuz suitable for a winter hike?

While the best time to visit is typically during warmer months when trails are clear of snow, winter conditions can make the hike significantly more challenging and potentially dangerous. Specialized winter hiking gear, avalanche awareness, and experience are crucial. It's advisable to check current trail conditions and weather forecasts before attempting a winter ascent.

Is the Burgstall Gipfelkreuz trail considered family-friendly?

The Hoher Burgstall is often described as one of the easier peaks among the 'Seven Summits of Stubai,' making it accessible for a wide range of hikers. However, sections can be steep and involve a short scramble. Families with younger children or those less experienced in mountain hiking should consider their fitness levels and choose a route carefully. A circular walk starting to the left is often recommended for a more manageable ascent.

Are dogs allowed on the trails to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

Generally, dogs are permitted on hiking trails in the Stubai Alps, but they should be kept on a leash, especially in areas with livestock or wildlife. Given the varied terrain, including steep sections and potential scrambles, ensure your dog is fit enough for the ascent and descent. Always carry enough water for both yourself and your pet.

What are the public transport options to reach the trailhead for Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

The most common starting point for the hike is from the Schlick 2000 mountain station at Kreuzjoch. This can typically be reached via a cable car from the valley station in Fulpmes. Fulpmes itself is well-connected by public bus services from Innsbruck, making it accessible without a car.

What should I wear for a hike to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

Given the alpine environment and varied terrain, layered clothing is highly recommended. Essential items include sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support, moisture-wicking base layers, a warm mid-layer, and a waterproof and windproof outer shell. Don't forget sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) and gloves, even in summer, as weather can change rapidly at altitude.

Are there any less crowded alternatives to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz that offer similar views?

While the trails to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz can be popular, especially from the cable car start, they tend to quiet down quickly. If you're seeking a quieter experience with similar stunning views within the Kalkkögel, exploring other peaks in the 'Seven Summits of Stubai' or lesser-known trails in the Stubai Valley might offer more solitude, though they may also present different levels of difficulty.

Is it possible to do a circular walk around Burgstall Gipfelkreuz?

Yes, many hikers enjoy a circular walk around the Hoher Burgstall. Visitor tips suggest that starting the tour to the left can make the ascent more manageable. These circular routes allow you to experience the diverse landscapes and offer continuous panoramic views throughout your journey, making for a rewarding day out.

How long does it typically take to hike to Burgstall Gipfelkreuz summit?

The duration of the hike largely depends on your starting point, fitness level, and chosen route. If starting from the Schlick 2000 mountain station at Kreuzjoch, a typical ascent to the summit and return can take approximately 3-5 hours, allowing for breaks and enjoying the views. Circular routes will naturally take longer.
