    La figura sulla facciata esterna della chiesa di Heiligenblut - che si estende dal pavimento al tetto - è quella di San CRISTOFERO. Il nome latino significa "portatore di Cristo", ed è esattamente così che viene sempre raffigurato: come un gigante che trasporta un bambino (Gesù, il Cristo) attraverso un fiume.
    Nel Medioevo era credenza popolare che se avessi visto Cristoforo, quel giorno non saresti morto impreparato. Pertanto la facciata esterna con il suo ritratto, visibile da lontano, era sicuramente molto apprezzata in paese.
