    La chiesa del mercato delle Nostre Care Donne, conosciuta anche come Chiesa di Santa Maria, e la Torre Rossa sono i punti di riferimento della città. Il cardinale Albrecht unì due chiese medievali, la Gertrudenkirche con le torri blu e la chiesa di Santa Maria, del 1529 per formare l'odierna chiesa del mercato. Con il suo edificio a tre navate è una delle chiese tardogotiche più importanti della Germania centrale. Nella chiesa si trova il fonte battesimale dove fu battezzato Georg-Friedrich Handel. È possibile ammirare la maschera mortuaria di Lutero e le torri Hausmann.
