    Ai tempi della DDR, il Rangsdorfer See iniziò a essere cotto. Le unità di spinta (chiatte quadrate) sono state scaricate al porto e il fango è stato temporaneamente immagazzinato nel campo a sud della foresta. Dopo una fase di essiccazione, il fango è stato utilizzato come fertilizzante.

    A differenza del lato est, il lato ovest del Rangsdorfer See non è affatto attraente, soprattutto per gli escursionisti. Non ci sono quasi accessi diretti al lago qui, tranne che su questa "piattaforma portuale".
