    "Mili" o "Milli" è l'abbreviazione di stabilimento balneare militare.

    Il lago è stato creato nel 1936 quando l'area apparteneva all'aeroporto militare di Delmenhorst-Adelheide e a questo scopo è stato scavato un lago, la cui riva è stata poi delimitata con cemento. La struttura balneare risultante fu utilizzata dai soldati della Wehrmacht fino all'aprile 1945. Dopo il 1945 l'area e con essa il lago furono nuovamente resi accessibili al pubblico. Fino al 1968 il lago era utilizzato come stabilimento balneare pubblico e gestito dall'Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO).
