    A metà del Ringberg, con vista sul lago Tegernsee e sulla valle Kreuther, il duca Luitpold in Baviera pose nel 1912 la prima pietra del castello di Ringberg. Lui stesso, dottore in storia dell'arte e addestrato in pittura, in circa sessant'anni creò l'edificio nella sua forma attuale insieme al suo amico d'infanzia, il pittore Friedrich Attenhuber.
