La cappella risale probabilmente al XIII secolo e un tempo apparteneva alla tenuta fortificata dei Conti di Schwerin. In seguito, fece parte di un castello appartenuto alla nobile famiglia Hitzacker, che fu venduto al monastero di Medingen nel 1336 e nel 1341.
La prima menzione documentata risale al 1318 e dal 1396 funge da chiesa parrocchiale per Gollern e Masbrock.
