    Il lago Tilgate è il più grande dei tre laghi del Tilgate Park. È un lago popolare per gli sport acquatici con tante altre attività che si svolgono su e intorno ad esso.

    La storia umana qui risale al periodo mesolitico, quando venivano realizzati utensili in selce. Più di recente, l'area era un parco reale per cervi nel 1600 e poi Tilgate Manor Estate dal 1647. Più di recente, BT ne era proprietaria e il lago è stato venduto per la pesca privata. Il Crawley Urban District Council ha acquistato l'area negli anni '60 ed è ora aperta al pubblico.
