Schloss Welsberg, also known as Welsperg Castle or Castel Monguelfo, is a historic medieval fortress perched on a rocky outcrop in the picturesque Puster Valley (Val Pusteria) in South Tyrol, Italy. This striking landmark overlooks the charming village of Monguelfo/Welsberg and the entrance to the scenic Casies Valley (Gsieser Tal). As a "Kernburg" or core castle, it features a compact, fortified design, highlighted by its unusually tall and slender 34.4-meter keep, which dates back to the 12th century.
