    I Fuggerei ad Augusta sono il più antico insediamento sociale esistente al mondo. L'insediamento di case a schiera fu donato da Jakob Fugger "il ricco" nel 1521. Oggi, 150 cittadini di Augusta cattolici bisognosi vivono nei 140 appartamenti delle 67 case per un canone annuo di 0,88 euro e dovrebbero dire un Padre Nostro, un Confessione di fede e un'Ave Maria ogni giorno parlano per il fondatore e la famiglia fondatrice Fugger.
