What is the historical significance of the Neues Schloss within the Eremitage complex?

The Neues Schloss, built starting around 1750 under Margravine Wilhelmine, is a unique example of Rococo park architecture with deep symbolic meaning. It replaced a hedge labyrinth and was designed to glorify Margrave Friedrich as the 'Apollo of Brandenburg.' Its central Sun Temple, adorned with glass fragments and rock crystals, represents Apollo's celestial palace. The palace reflects Wilhelmine's intellectual pursuits and the extravagant tastes of the Bayreuth court, despite being built with economical means after a fire in the Old Palace.
