    Presumibilmente nel XIII secolo fu costruita un'isola murata su una parte bassa di Bemmel, circondata da un fossato. Su quest'isola fu costruito un mastio. La casa fu menzionata per la prima volta nel 1403 quando Johan van Ambe la occupò. Dello stesso periodo potrebbe risalire l'annessa torre-porta. A volte nel XVI e XVII secolo, queste torri erano collegate da un edificio. Nel 1765 la casa fu ampliata con un'ala. Non si sa da dove derivi il nome De Kinkelenburg.
