L'arco trionfale è a mezza punta e piegato. Il capitello sinistro è decorato con elementi vegetali. La destra è figurativa: con le fauci aperte, che nell'iconografia romanica sembra simboleggiare la lotta dell'uomo contro il male. L'arco trionfale era chiuso da un cancello in ferro del XIII secolo, l'unica porta romanica conservata a Melide.
