    Nel XII secolo, Marquard Spet de Steinenhart, nominato come testimone in un documento del 1120, costruì probabilmente il castello sopra il villaggio di Steinhart e nel 1130 fu menzionato un "Bertholdus Späth, nobilis de Steinhart". Ulteriori menzioni della Spete ebbero luogo nel 1167 con Heinrich Spet e Bertold Spet 1180-1183. Dal 1282 i signori di Spet si chiamavano Spete von Steinhart (il "defunto von Steinhart").

    Nel 1282 la proprietà Spetsche fu divisa in due linee, con una parte destinata a Faimingen an der Donau, ora parte del comune di Lauingen.
