Con l'introduzione della Riforma in seguito alla Guerra dei contadini nel 1525, la vita religiosa del monastero fu limitata e la sua esistenza fu ridotta alla durata della vita dei monaci presenti. Nel 1540 l'ultimo frate voltò le spalle al monastero. Due anni dopo, l'arcivescovo Alberto di Magonza consegnò il complesso vuoto alle cure della città. Il monastero cadde in rovina e fu demolito nel 1792. Sono sopravvissuti solo pochi frammenti di architettura e arredi.
