    Già nel 1782 a Schönwalde/Glien esisteva l'antica locanda del villaggio. Questo è stato distrutto da un incendio. Fu ricostruito tra il 1784 e il 1785. Per considerazioni economiche, l'allora re, Federico il Grande, approvò lo spostamento di 2000 gradini più vicino alla città di Spandau. Fu così che nacque la "Neue Dorfkrug", come veniva chiamata allora, nella sede attuale.

    L'area dell'odierna Schönwalde-Siedlung era originariamente una vasta area forestale che apparteneva al maniero di Schönwalde. Nel 1900 furono disposti ulteriori appezzamenti di terreno vicino al ponte di pietra. Nel 1932, Reinhard von Risselmann, che all'epoca possedeva il maniero, vendette parte della foresta a un agente immobiliare di Berlin-Westend. Lo ha parcellizzato e venduto. L'insediamento divenne indipendente nel 1932 come Seebad Schönwalde. Il 26 ottobre 2003 Schönwalde è stata fusa con altri cinque comuni per formare il nuovo comune di Schönwalde-Glien,
