    Uno dei maggiori monumenti tecnici culturali dell'alto medioevo: la Fossa Carolina (il Karlsgraben). Carlo Magno fece scavare qui intorno all'anno 793 un canale lungo 3000 m per poter navigare comodamente con le navi a sud-est del suo impero. Uno specchio d'acqua lungo ancora oggi 500 m e pareti di terra adiacenti testimoniano il primo tentativo di collegare il Reno, il Meno e il Danubio con un corso d'acqua. Il posto invita a soffermarsi, bellissime bacheche, aree salotto e bagni pubblici, quasi tutto è disponibile.

    È sempre sorprendente come negli anni precedenti i rilievi agrari e di altezza fossero effettuati con mezzi ancora molto modesti, su queste basi si procedesse alla progettazione e si realizzassero gli edifici e gli impianti idrico-tecnici. Certamente sono pochi oggigiorno che potrebbero implementare tali servizi senza utilizzare i dati gps.
