    L '"oro bianco" era uno dei pochi prodotti di valore commerciale da estrarre nei proibitivi deserti delle saline della Death Valley. Dopo aver distillato il borace, i treni di carri con 16 muli venivano usati classicamente per trasportarlo fuori dalla valle fino alla strada o alle rotaie più vicine. Ancora oggi è un marchio.

    Il borace (Salz Minerals) è stato depositato in antichi letti di laghi che si sono sollevati ed erosi nei calanchi gialli di Furnace Creek e sono stati trasportati dall'acqua ai terreni della Death Valley, dove si sono ricristallizzati come borace.
    Per secoli il borace è stato utilizzato per vari usi importanti da ceramisti, fabbri e massaie (😂 ....non scherzo, come spiegato in uno dei tabelloni espositivi).
    Il borace è ancora oggi un'importante materia prima per la produzione di vari composti di boro, utilizzati nell'industria del vetro e della ceramica (smalti, smalti) e come fondente per la saldatura.
