    Il vecchio Großefalz fu "costruito sul minerale", soprattutto a quote più basse, tanto che alla fine dovette cedere il passo all'attività mineraria. Il destino di Alt-Großenfalz fu segnato negli anni '50, quando Maxhütte decise di estrarre i giacimenti di minerale di ferro direttamente sotto il villaggio di Grossenfalz. Nel 1964 i minatori e gli agricoltori Grossenfalzer si trasferirono nella loro proprietà di nuova costruzione. Oggi si è formato da solo un meraviglioso biotopo, dove animali rari hanno trovato una natura incontaminata. L'area è stata ora dichiarata riserva naturale.
