    De Boterwaag è una pesa a Nijmegen sul Grote Markt, costruita tra il 1612 e il 1613 su progetto di Cornelis Janssen van Delft. Le forme rinascimentali sono legate allo stile di Hendrick de Keyser. L'edificio è stato restaurato nel 1886 da Jan Jacob Weve.

    L'autovettura si trovava sul lato destro (lato ovest) dell'edificio. Al piano terra c'era una sala da carne con cancelli attraverso i quali potevano entrare carrozze e carri e tre volte a crociera su pilastri. Nell'edificio sono state anche allestite temporaneamente alcune case. Fino al 1885, la guardia militare di Nijmegen si trovava all'ultimo piano.

    La piazza ebbe origine nel Medioevo, durante lo sviluppo della città come centro commerciale sul Reno.

    Intorno al 1251, la piazza si chiamava Hundisborch e intorno al 1410 Honsborch, dal nome dell'influente famiglia di mercanti Van Honsborch. Secondo un documento del 1678, questa famiglia possedeva una fattoria vicino alla Porta di Santo Stefano. Nei secoli successivi, fino al 1590 circa, la piazza del mercato fu chiamata anche Cruys e Cruys Market, il che indica che al centro potrebbe esserci stata una croce di mercato, simbolo dei diritti di mercato concessi.
