    Da oltre un secolo l'Opera House rappresenta il cuore, l'anima e le passioni di Oamaru. È stato un centro di attività sociali, politiche e culturali e continua ad evolversi come sede di arti dello spettacolo, funzioni e conferenze.

    L'edificio è stato ufficialmente inaugurato il 7 ottobre 1907 e rimane in gran parte nelle sue condizioni originali, essendo stato restaurato nel 2009. La ristrutturazione ha vinto la categoria Architettura pubblica dei Southern Architecture Awards 2010 e il premio NZIA Heritage 2011 per la conservazione del patrimonio.
